Racing The Vale 2017The annual Racing The Vale 5km sports challenge fun run was on again at Helensvale. It was great to see a mass of runners all hyped up ready to race. The local Councillor William Owen-Jones Division 2, Gold Coast got into the action and raced the LJ Hooker Teddy Bear, a green turtle and some crazy looking purple guy from Anytime Fitness. |

No Phones in School ZonesA message from our school zone crossing guards - don't use your mobile phone whilst driving and don't make rude hand signals to the crossing guards when they ask you to stop. They are doing their best to protect everyone's children. |

Highland Reserve State SchoolOnce again I have written to the Minister about safety concerns regarding primary school students crossing Highland Way to access the Highland Reserve State School's rear gate. I totally agree with many residents who have expressed fears an accident involving a child is only a matter of time. We need a crossing guard to be allocated at Highland Way to ensure students cross the road safely. |

Busy, Busy NightBusy night, first stop was Windaroo Valley State High School Enable Dux Dinner (Best wishes to all school Dux winners! I hope you enjoyed your dinner), then I raced off to Gaven State School P&C meeting to hear the concerns of parents about lack of classroom space. Last stop was Oxenford & Coomera Community Youth Centre for our regular Oxenford Neighbourhood watch meeting. Now it's home time for Vegemite on toast for dinner |
