Additional Information:  

The attack at the Balkan Gun Pits was successful in capturing the Turkish positions despite sustaining heavy casualties due to fierce resistance by Turk forces and accidental friendly fire from allied naval vessels. The 5th Light Horse sustained 23 men killed and 79 wounded during this battle.
