E-Petition Helensvale North/Hope Island Road Train Station
9 Jul 2021 12:03 PMMark BoothmanAs most of you are aware, the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is planning a new rail station at Helensvale North and I am seeking your support to sign a petition to increase the amount of car parking spaces at this proposed facility. I have been contacted by concerned residents who feel the planned 172 to 174 car parks for commuters will be insufficient and will force rail patrons to use local streets for parking.
In addition, to limit confusion for rail patrons, I am seeking a name change for the proposed station to Hope Island Road Station. I believe it will be very confusing for commuters to have a “Helensvale North” train station on Hope Island Road with the M1 Motorway “Helensvale North” exit at Helensvale Road.
Furthermore, it is not uncommon to name train stations after local roads or streets to better reflect their location. Examples are Roma Street Station and Park Road Station.
Consequently, we are seeking resident’s participation in the petition to support these changes.
The E-Petition can be found at www.markboothman.com or on the Queensland Parliamentary website at https://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/work-of-assembly/petitions/petition-details?id=3580.
Thank you for your support and if ever I can be of assistance, or you see me at a roadside, please do not hesitate to stop and have a chat.
