The first sitting week for 2024 comes to an end.

This week in Parliament Parliament, I spoke in the adjournment debate to thank our community and volunteers for their efforts during the recent storm event.

There are so many community groups I need to thank, but I could only mention a few due to time limitations. The clean-up continues and will do so for some time due to the massive amounts of material. It is disappointing the state government only gave 1 million in Local Resilience and Recovery Grants to Gold Coast City, therefore pushing costs onto the council. The speech is below.

Also this week, the Parliament debated the Summary Offences Bill. The State Labor Government rejected the LNP amendments to this bill, removing detention as a last resort, therefore unshackling magistrates and opening the youth courts. Morale in the Queensland Police Service continues to hit new low levels. Officers continually tell me they are sick of a revolving-door justice system.

Questions to the Minister for Main Roads

Will the Minister advise the dates, times and locations of information sessions to be conducted by the Department of Main Roads for residents of Helensvale concerning both Stage 1 North and Central for the Coomera Connector?

(The department promised information booths for residents early this year.)

In regards to measuring sound levels near state-controlled roads. Can the Minister provide sound measurements results for all State Controlled roads and exact locations within the Theodore Electorate, since 2015 in table format.
