Protecting The John Muntz Bridge

A photo taken today upstream from the John Muntz Bridge. Last weeks rain event caused another 1 to 2 metres of riverbank to collapse as the river continues to move in north west direction through the Oxenford .Pony grounds. I recently asked a question to the Minister for Main Roads about protecting the John Muntz Bridge from future erosion. I referenced a recent article in the Gold Coast Bulletin

“With reference to the 23 March 2022 Gold Coast Bulletin article relating to the riverbank upstream from the John Muntz Bridge ‘A flood-hit riding club will be relocated to save ratepayers $8m’, reported Gold Coast City Councillor comments, ‘At some time it (the river) will sort itself out,’ and the likelihood Council will allow erosion to continue unabated and potentially severing Tamborine Oxenford Road again—

Will the Minister advise what plans Transport and Main Roads has to protect this crucially important arterial road?”

I have attached the Minister’s answer.
