Jack’s Law (Made Permanent) was named in honour of Jack Beasley who lost his life to knife crime, gives police the power to use hand-held scanners to detect deadly weapons anywhere and anytime in Queensland.
And in its first six months of being made permanent, it’s making a huge difference in the Gold Coast region with:
17,362 people scanned
159 weapons seized
By giving police permanent, statewide wanding powers, we’re stopping knives and weapons before violence occurs.
Jack’s Law is helping us tackle knife crime and making Queensland safer.
