Charles Crossing and Tamborine Oxenford Road Intersection.

For some time have been in contact with the Department of Main Roads regarding Charles Crossing and Tamborine Oxenford Road intersection.

During peak hours it isn't safe to turn right out of Charlies Crossing and many residents have commented, since Gold Coast City Council approved the petrol station, the situation has become even more precarious. Motorists ignore the no right turn out of the petrol station or u-turn around the Cenotaph. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that was going to happen. This creates problem for Charles Crossing residents turning left, they have to watch for cars coming out of the petrol station. (QPS can't allocate a vehicle to sit outside the exit to enforce all day / every day.)

Therefore I agree with residents, there needs to be a safety upgrade to turn right out of Charlies Crossing. Main Roads has suggested installing traffic signals.

As part of any upgrade to the intersection, the Cenotaph will need to be moved. The question will be where is an appropriate location? If you have any suggestion, please email me at theodore@parliament.qld.gov.au

Please keep in mind these words on the Upper Coomera Cenotaph

“They gave their all.

Let you who pass, saluting here their names,

See that through you no slur, nor stain, nor shame falls on the land for which they gave their lives
