The controlled burn at Wongawallan near the Fox and Hound Inn is progressing quickly with ideal weather conditions. The wind is blowing the smoke west north west as predicted.

It’s been a huge day at the Guanaba Rural Fire Day. We cooked well over 50kgs of sausages! The community response today has been amazing. A big thank you to Red (first officer) the whole Guanaba team, Sid Cramp, Vicki from Pacific Pines Residents Group & CR Peter Young for all your hard work today.

History and culture on show at today’s Helensvale State School NAIDOC Week Celebrations. It’s a proud and special moment for many students who contributed to today’s celebrations.

I have written to the Minister for Police and CC the newly appointed Police Commissioner about adequately resourcing the proposed Police Station at Pimpama. We need a net increase in officers on the Northern Gold Coast and simply moving officers from Coomera to the new station will do little to reduce the high levels of workload for Police. We need a substantial increase in Police numbers to reflect the high levels of calls for service.
