Testing criteria for coronavirus (COVID-19) will be increased in Cairns, Gold Coast and Brisbane as a precaution following the detection of cases with unknown sources of infection. The increased testing has been ordered to head off the risk of sustained community transmission.

Mayor Tom Tate has announced that all carparks at Gold Coast beaches are to be closed ahead of the Easter weekend.

With some people continuing to ignore social distancing measures, the following beaches will be closed from 11.59pm Tuesday 7 April for the well-being of the wider community: ❌ The Spit (including dog beach) ❌ Surfers Paradise ❌ Coolangatta & Greenmount We’d like to take the opportunity to remind everyone to stay in your own neighbourhood as much as possible.
