Rath Yatra Chariot ProcessionThis afternoon, our Indian community came together to celebrate another significant cultural event — the Rath Yatra Chariot Procession, held at Gaven State School. Rath Yatra, regarded as the oldest and one of the largest Hindu chariot festivals, is traditionally celebrated annually in June and July. Thank you, Senator Paul Scarr, for taking time out of your busy weekend to attend. |

Transplant AustraliaGlorious day for the Transplant Australia walk around Damian Leeding Park. Today’s walk was dedicated to Detective Senior Constable Damian Leeding, who was killed in 2011 trying to stop an armed hold-up at Pacific Pines Tavern. Damian’s decision to be an organ donor has given life to others. |

Social HousingWe’re making our State’s social housing system fairer by restarting annual rent reviews and eligibility checks. While tens of thousands of Queenslanders were stuck on the waitlist, the former Labor Government didn’t ask for updated information from almost half of existing social housing tenants. Some have been earning $200,000 a year but paying less than $200 a week in rent. |
