Yesterday's Vietnam Veterans Day at the Beenleigh RSL was a solemn service to remember all those who have served. Cr Darren Power received the great honour to be this year's guest speaker. Thank you RSL President David Draper for your efforts with the RSL.

Today we commemorate 102 years since the landing at Gallipoli, it also marks 100 years since 'The charge of the Light Horse at Beersheba' and major battles on the western front. It also marks 75 years since the battle of Kokoda, the Coral Sea and the bombing of Darwin. "Happiness comes with freedom, freedom is paid for by courage." Sergeant Scott Cowan 2nd 14th Light Horse Regiment. Remembering where we have been, helps us understand where we are going.

Glorious morning for the Helensvale ANZAC dawn service. History will live on with those who remember the sacrifice of men and women of past and present generations. Special thanks to the North Gold Coast RSL Sub-Branch Inc for once again hosting a very special service.
