Rural Fire Brigade Volunteers

Huge thank you to our Rural Fire Brigade Volunteers for their efforts to help protect our communities. Special mention to Ben Naday, Rural Fire Brigade Volunteer of the Year. Today, on the topic of bushfire readiness, I asked a question on notice to the Minister for Emergency Services, asking when our bushfire condition signs will be reinstated. The department has removed signage without replacing them. Residents and tourists use these signs as a subtle reminder of conditions.

Bushfire Conditions Signage. (Removed)

Many residents and tourists rely on these signs as a subtle reminder of current bushfire conditions, especially for those who live in areas with poor mobile coverage and limited internet connectivity. The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a problematic bushfire season that could devastate residential properties. Therefore, it beggars’ belief the Department of Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) has removed 300 of these warning signs across Queensland and only replaced 64 of them.
